What are cookies?
In relation to websites, a cookie is a small set of data that is sent from the web server to the user’s browser and stored by the browser on the user’s device (computer, tablet, mobile phone, or others) and which can be read or later retrieved from the server itself. They allow the website to store some useful information within a session or in subsequent accesses that the user makes to the site.
Cookies can be used for different reasons. In some parts of the sites cookies are essential and without them you might not be able, for example, to navigate the site correctly.
In other parts they are used to obtain useful information to provide specific services, and also some external services (third parties) may need to install specific cookies on the user’s browser in order to provide the related services.
What types of cookies are used on our website?
Technical cookies are those used for the purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication to an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service”.
They are not used for other purposes and they are usually installed directly by the website manager.
They can be divided into:
Navigation or session cookies
They are used in order to record data useful for the normal navigation and managing of the website on the user’s computer (allowing, for example, to remember the preferred page size in a list). These cookies can be distinguished then by their persistence on the user’s computer: those automatically deleted at the end of each navigation are called session cookies. If, on the other hand, they have a longer life, they are called permanent cookies.
These cookies allow the website to remember the selection made by the user in order to optimize its functionality. For example, functional cookies allow the website to remember a user’s specific settings, such as country selection and, if set, permanent access status.
Third party cookies
These services produce cookies that are linked to the services provided by third parties. The third party provides these services in exchange for information regarding the user’s visit to our site. It follows, even for third-party cookie suppliers, the obligation to comply with the relevant legislation. For this reason, we refer to the links of the web pages of third-party sites, where the user can find the cookie consent forms and their related information. If the services were provided by indirect contacts with third parties, the user must consult the sites of the subjects who act as intermediaries between us and the third parties themselves.
To optimize the information and services offered, the sites of the regional network use Google Analytics, a Google service that allows you to track and analyze the behavior of online users with regard to times, geographical location and behavior on the site.
Youtube e Google Maps
In some cases, the videos are viewed through the service offered by Youtube, and in other cases the maps presented to users are created using the features offered by the Google Maps service.
Open Street Map
Besides Google maps, some services make use of Open Street Map.
How can cookies be deactivated or removed?
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but it is possible to set the browser so that they are not accepted, automatically or upon request. We do not recommend such deactivation as normal navigation may be compromised and some or all the features of some sites may not be available. If you do not want your computer to receive and store cookies, you can change the security settings of your browser.
